Our story

Built for the global majority.

Awaam Academy is an all-access learning subscription for students who pay the world’s prices on a fraction of the world’s salaries. We rebuilt the model around the one thing that actually changes outcomes — pricing that matches where you live.

The name

“Awaam” means the people.

In Urdu and Arabic, awaam means “the people” — not the elite, not the well-connected, not just those who can afford private tutoring. The name is the promise.

We started Awaam Academy because the gap between students in Karachi, Dhaka, Lagos, Manila, or Nairobi and students in London or San Francisco isn’t a quality gap — it’s a pricing gap. The same online course costs the same forty-nine dollars whether you make a developer’s salary or a teacher’s wage. We rebuilt the model so it doesn’t.

What we believe

Three things, taken seriously.

Pricing built around where you live

We detect your country at sign-up and adjust prices automatically. A subscription that's a coffee run in San Francisco is a fraction of that in Dhaka — because it has to be.

Real instructors, not content farms

Every course is taught by a vetted educator. We read every instructor application by hand. The quality bar is high; the people who get through it stay.

Scholarships if it's still too much

If our regional pricing still puts the catalog out of reach, write to us. No income proof, no humiliating paperwork. We grant scholarships generously.

The founder

Founded by one person. Built for many.

The launch catalog is taught by Amin directly while the instructor base grows. New instructors review by hand.

Portrait of Amin Memon

Amin Memon

Founder

Amin Memon is the founder of Awaam Academy. He is a senior in Computer Science at McNeese State University in Louisiana, USA, graduating May 2026, with a focus on backend systems and AI. He started Awaam Academy after teaching Cambridge prep himself and watching the same paywall keep playing out across countries: world-class online learning priced for a Western salary, out of reach for students in Karachi, Lagos, or Dhaka. The platform launched with that prep catalog and is opening to instructors worldwide.
